Stipple : a new Unity plugin to import, visualize and edit your point clouds

The French VR/AR/MR/XR company Light & Shadows, specialized in VR/AR/MR/XR solutions, just launched a new product : Stipple.

Import – Visualize – Edit

Stipple is a Unity plugin that allows you to import, visualize and edit point clouds. The plugin can display very heavy point clouds (until 5 billion points, according to Light & Shadows). Which means working with huge datasets from 3D scan techniques is within reach.

Light & Shadows explains that the plugin was developped in partnership with the CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, a French public government-funded research organisation).

Stipple supports various file formats (.e57, .pts, .ptx, .las) and several editing tools are included, such as cut/crop, cut/paste. You can also use Stipple to compare a point cloud and a 3D model in order to highlight the differences between a scan and a BIM model.

Last, but not least, Stipple is VR-ready.

Restrictions and business model

Stipple only supports Windows at the moment. You do not need a Unity Pro licence to use it. Stipple is available as a yearly subscription. You can try the product for 7 days for free.
