SpeedTree, a tool focused on vegetation modeling, has received a major release. The brand new SpeedTree 9 provides some interesting new features, such as:
- The ability to convert photogrammetry scans into procedural models that can then be tweaked and edited using procedural tools;
- A “freehand mode” now allows you to “hand-drow models, bend branches, sculpt key details, and edit down to a single vertex”. This freehand mode can of course be used in concert with procedural generators.
SpeedTree is available as a subscription, wiith various licensing options (including a free Learning Edition). It should be noted that SpeedTree Games and SpeedTree Cinema now cost the same.
