VFX & animation studio DNEG just announced the introduction of enhanced overtime for their UK employees.
Beginning in October, the UK staff (apart from management positions) will be paid at 1,5x rate for any time they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week. In other words, the UK staff will benefit from the same overtime policy that is already applied by DNEG in their North American studios.
DNEG explains that this new policy “applies across [their] film and episodic visual effects, DNEG Animation, and ReDefine operations in London, including all [their] artist, production, technology, and support teams”. Around 700 people work in the DNEG London office. Upcoming projects include The Matrix Resurrections, Ron’s Gone Wrong and several upcoming DC movies.
Last August, Outpost VFX announced a similar move. Hopefully, more studios will follow the same path.
